General Information

The Mid-South Electric Metering Association 59th Annual Meter School will be held May 3 - 7, 2010 at the Wilderness At The Smokies in Sevierville, Tennessee. The hotel is located at 1424 Old Knoxville Highway, just off TN Highway 66 and Interstate 40 Exit 407. Please check back for updates to this page.

Classes are divided into the following groups throughout the week.

Group I - For newcomers in the field of revenue metering.

Group II - Designed for those who have been involved in metering for a few years and have a firm knowledge of single phase metering.

Group III - Covers such subjects as data acquisition, solid state metering, and new trends in revenue metering.

Group IV- This group is reserved for vendors to present new products, provide software training, etc. This group will be divided into Part A and Part B. There will be time slots designated specifically for training in meter software and programming.

Attendees are free to attend classes in any of the four groups throughout the week.

Exhibit Area - The exhibit area will be open Monday through Wednesday. Hours are: Monday 2:00 PM - 6:30 PM, Tuesday 8:00 AM - 6:30 PM, and Wednesday 8:00 AM -2:00 PM. Morning and afternoon refreshment breaks will be in the exhibit area. Monday and Tuesday night the exhibitors will host a reception in the exhibit area.

Door Prizes - There will be door prizes given away during breaks in the exhibit area, the exhibitor's receptions, the business luncheon on Wednesday, and at the closing session on Friday.

Attire - Casual attire is appropriate for daily breakout classes and all other functions during the week.

Group Photo - On Tuesday, May 4 the annual group photo will be taken at 9:30 AM.

Business Meeting & Luncheon - The annual business meeting and luncheon is scheduled for Wednesday, May 5 from 11:00 AM til 12:45 PM. The business meeting is for everyone. Please make a special effort to attend.

Textbooks - The textbooks that will be used during the school are the latest edition of the "Handbook for Electricity Metering" and "Handbook for Electricity Metering - Appendices". Those who have access to these should bring them to the school.

Reference Materials - This year we will have available a limited number of Ugly's Electrical Reference Books (2005 Edition) for sale at the school. We will also have order forms for the Edison Electric Institute Handbook for Electricity Metering as well as for reference materials by Alexander Publications.

Laptop Computers - Anyone interested in attending a vendor presentation which covers meter software and programming (Group IV) should bring a laptop computer loaded with the latest version of programming software.

Scholarship - The Mid-South Electric Metering Association is committed to education in the revenue metering area of the electric utility industry. In keeping with this commitment, the Mid-South Electric Metering Association is proud to announce that it will be awarding a $1000.00 scholarship annually. The scholarship will be awarded to a deserving student in the field of electrical engineering or electrical engineering technology.

Each year the Meter School offers the opportunity for those from different utilities to meet and exchange ideas and information. We hope you will be able to join us.
